Fight Back. Fake It.

Over the past couple of years, Steffan and I have researched, reported, debated, written, updated, and rewritten our common project: A book and a website that will help us and everybody else in Europe and the U.S. to perform what we call “digital self-defense.”

For too long, we – citizens and consumers – have been accepting and ignoring the fact that huge multinational companies are tracking us online, mining our personal data and storing it in huge identity banks in order to make money without us knowing, let alone consenting.

Our book Fake It! is about digital self-defense in the commercial arena. How to fight back and why it is necessary.

The book will be published in Danish and English on August 30th, as a print edition in Denmark and as an e-book in English and Danish. Jan 20th 2013, it will be published in hardcover and e-book in German.

We are currently negotiating to sell Fake It! in other European countries, so if you have any suggestions for a publisher, please let us know.

After August 30th, parts of our tools chapter with plenty of tips, tricks and tools for your own digital self-defense will become available here on the website.

Meanwhile, we will update this blog with news around our main theme – “big data” (huge amounts of data) and “small data” (personal data) – and of course keep you posted about the book launch.
